Centerpoint Medical Center's Cardiac Surgery Program has been awarded the highest national ranking -- 3 stars -- from The Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) for 2009-2010. The STS comprehensive rating system compares the quality of cardiac surgery among hospitals across the country and only 12 percent of hospitals nationwide received this year's STS 3-star rating. In addition, within the Kansas City region, Centerpoint Medical Center is one of only two hospitals to receive HealthGrades' highest rating -- 5 stars -- in heart valve replacement surgery. Centerpoint Medical Center has been ranked by HealthGrades as among the top ten hospitals in Missouri for Cardiac Surgery for three consecutive years (2009 - 2011).
