Midwest Heart Associates is part of the Midwest Physicians network in Kansas City. We are affiliated with Research Medical Center, Lee's Summit Medical Center, Research Belton Hospital and Cass Regional Medical Center as well as the hospitals of HCA Midwest Health System.

Kiranmayi Chilappa, MD | Profile
Dr. Kiranmayi Chilappa obtained her medical degree from Osmania Medical College (India). She completed a residency in internal medicine, a fellowship in cardiology, a fellowship in echocardiography, and a fellowship in advanced echocardiography. She has been honored with the University Gold Medal for Best Outgoing Student, Gold Medal for marks in Internal Medicine, the Satya Sai Gold Medal for academic performance, the Bharati Kamalakar Memorial Award, and the Gold Medal for Academic Performance. She is certified in cardiology and nuclear cardiology and is board-certified in internal medicine. Dr. Chilappa is affiliated with  Research Medical Center, Lee's Summit Medical Center, Research Belton Hospital and Cass County Regional Medical Center.

Bangalore V. Deepak, MD | Profile
Dr. Bangalore Deepak received his medical degree from Mysore University in Mysore, India. He completed his internal medicine residency at Yale University/Bridgeport Hospital Program, where he also completed cardiology and interventional cardiology fellowships. Dr. Deepak is board-certified in cardiology, interventional cardiology, vascular medicine, echocardiography, nuclear cardiology and internal medicine. He is a member of the American College of Cardiology, the American Heart Association, the American Society of Echocardiography, the Society of Nuclear Cardiology and the American College of Physicians, among other organizations. Joseph C. Dwyer, MD, FACC | Profile
Dr. Joseph Dwyer obtained his medical degree from the St. Louis University School of Medicine. He completed his fellowship at the St. Louis University Hospitals and his residencies at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (general medicine) and the Barnes Hospital and Washington University School of Medicine (internal medicine). Dr. Dwyer has served as a captain in the United States Air Force Medical Corps as well as director of Heart Station (St. John’s Mercy, St. Louis, Mo.), cardiology and ICU (St. Joseph Hospital, St. Louis, Mo.). He is board-certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, and nuclear cardiology. Dr. Dwyer is affiliated with Research Medical Center, Lee's Summit Medical Center, Research Belton Hospital and Cass County Regional Medical Center.

James R. Eynon, MD, FACC | Profile
Dr. James Eynon obtained his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He completed an internship with Dr. James Leonard, a residency with the chairman of the department of medicine and a fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Health Center Hospitals. Dr. Eynon has served as assistant professor of medicine in a cardiology division and as a departmental director at the Oakland Veterans Administration Hospital in Pittsburgh. He is a member of the American College of Cardiology, the Jackson County Medical Society, the American Medical Association and the American Heart Association. Willie Lawrence, Jr., MD | Profile
Dr. Willie Lawrence obtained his medical degree from and completed his residency at Harvard Medical School and completed his fellowship at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. He has been honored as a Super Doctor in 2007, 2008 and 2009, as Father of the Year of the Kansas City Juvenile Diabetes Association, with the National Power to End Stroke Award from the American Heart Association and with the Heart and Soul Physician Award. For the American Heart Association, he has served for the Midwest Affiliate, on the board of directors, on the National Professional Education Committee, and as an AHA Spokesperson. He is board-certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, interventional cardiology and nuclear cardiology. Duc Nguyen, DO | Profile
Dr. Duc Nguyen obtained his medical degree from the University of California, San Diego. He completed both an internship in internal medicine and a residency at Northeast Regional Medical Center (Kirksville, MO) and fellowships at the University of Missouri Hospital and Clinics and Midwestern University. Dr. Nguyen has been honored by Sigma Sigma Phi and is board-certified in internal medicine including cardiovascular diseases and interventional cardiology. He has served as instructor for advanced cardiac life support, advanced physical diagnosis and introduction to patient care and has served as chief intern at Northeast Regional Medical Center. Christine Rattin, DO | Profile
Dr. Christine Rattin obtained her medical degree from the University of Health Sciences, College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her internship at Carson City Hospital in Carson City, Mich. Dr. Rattin also holds bachelor’s degrees in nursing, biology, chemistry and genetics. She has served as director of cardiac imaging and internal medicine departments. She is board-certified in cardiology and internal medicine and is certified in cardiac CT, cardiac MR, echocardiography, coronary angiography and nuclear cardiac imaging. She is a member of the American College of Cardiology, the American Heart Association (professional), the American College of Osteopathic Internists (fellow), the American Osteopathic Association and the American College of Physicians, among others. Dr. Rattin is affiliated with Research Medical Center, Lee's Summit Medical Center, Research Belton Hospital and Cass County Regional Medical Center.

Patrick Santiago, MD, FACC, FASNC, FACP  |  Profile
Dr. Patrick Santiago obtained his medical degree from Autonomous University of Guadalajara Mexico and New York Medical College. He completed a residency at Saint Raphael Hospital/Yale Medical School and a fellowship at the University of Missouri, Kansas City (UMKC), Truman Center/Saint Luke's Hospital. He has served in numerous cardiology-related leadership and committee positions at area hospitals, and is a former associate professor of medicine at UMKC. Dr. Santiago is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology, the American College of Physicians and the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology and is also a member of the Kansas Chapter American College of Cardiology. He is board-certified in internal medicine with a subspecialty in cardiology and is fluent in English, Spanish and French. Dr. Santiago is affiliated with Research Medical Center, Lee's Summit Medical Center, Research Belton Hospital and Cass County Regional Medical Center.

Carrie Totta, MD | Profile
Dr. Carrie Totta attended medical school at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. She completed residencies at both the University of Texas and St. Louis University School of Medicine, where she also served as an assistant professor. She has been honored with the Cardiovascular Division Teacher of the Year Award, the Upjohn Cardiology Fellow of the Year and graduated cum laude. She is a member of the American Medical Association, the American College of Cardiology and the American Heart Association. She is board-certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular diseases. Dr. Totta is affiliated with Research Medical Center, Lee's Summit Medical Center, Research Belton Hospital and Cass County Regional Medical Center.
